Sold. Kelly's Heroes is notable for having Tigers that actually look like Tigers. Rather than the usual 'Corp, there's a column of kraut Tigers coming down the road!' (as a couple of Shermans trundle into view)

The three Tiger I tanks used were actually ex-Soviet Army T-34 tanks, converted in great detail by specialists of the Yugoslav army for the 1969 movie The Battle on the River Neretva (1969). The care taken to make the T-34s look like Tiger tanks was notable--most period World War II films used unmodified modern tanks as their vehicles, with minimal effort to change their appearance, often no more than painting the tanks with gray or yellow with distinctive German crosses. Oddball's Shermans are Yugoslav Army M4A3E4 Shermans (post-war US upgraded to 76mm in original 75mm turret).

In Kelly’s Heroes he was the tough but caring platoon commander who tries to talk the men out of going along with Clint’s crazy scheme. But having failed to do so, begrudgingly goes along with it.
Honourable mentions for his great appearances in Cape Fear and The Birdman of Alcatraz. ’The Marcus-Nelson Murders’, the tv film where Kojak first appeared, is worth a watch, too. Played straight as a gritty NY crime film, rather in than the lighter way the series was done.

Did anyone see the remake of Kojak in 2005ish? Played by the black geezer out of mission impossible, Ving Rhames. I expect it was SHIT.

It has been discussed quite a bit in other threads. I watched it a few months ago on the back of the recommendations here.
